Blazing Hot Fighters Page 2

I can’t help but smile as a tiny bit of information falls into place. No wonder my dad took a liking to Logan; he always has a soft spot for a fellow marine. My dad always tried to get me to date the marines he knew. “You’ll never find a more honorable man than a marine, Dani.”

My dad wants nothing more than to see me settled down like my sister, but Mia has always been the more traditional of the two of us. She’s the one who saw my parent’s happy marriage as a model of what she wanted. But when I close my eyes and look into my future, the idea of marriage and children feels like a cage I’m just not ready to step into.

I’ve learned to never say never about anything. I know there is a future for me, but right now, I have no idea what that looks like.

I trace Logan’s body with my eyes, moving down along his long torso and over his narrow waist, his powerful thighs, all the way down to his toes. Then I inch my way back up over his arms to his neck and face, only to find him smiling at me.

He tips his chin up at me, acknowledging that I am totally busted. His black mouth guard makes his grin look toothless as he arches his back and presses his fists together, flexing his muscles for me like a body builder.

I nod my approval, feeling the heat rush into my face as the trainer taps the bell, signaling the start of the sparring session, which I pretend not to watch.

By the time I get the gym closed, it’s after ten, and I haven’t stopped thinking about Logan. I want to drag him upstairs to my apartment and have my way with him, but something tells me that isn’t who he is. I mean, he’s definitely interested in me, but I think maybe he is used to a little bit of courting before ripping off my clothes and hopping into bed.

I’m shutting down the front desk when Logan appears, showered and dressed in a tight-fitting gray tee-shirt and blue jeans that hug his hips perfectly. He slings his bag over his shoulder and smiles shyly, looking down a lot while he waits next to the counter.

“Hey, wild man. What do you have in store for us tonight?” I can tell he’s not used to moving fast, but a part of me likes pushing him.

He smiles at my teasing and meets my gaze. “You hungry?”

  I nod.

“Well, we have a couple of options this late at night. We could grab some Chinese or Thai. Or we can splurge and go for a five-star experience at the diner.”

I do a quick mental scan of the fridge my sister loaded up for me in the apartment. “Or, we could head upstairs and I can grill us some steaks.”

He straightens up; he wasn’t expecting that. He seems so tense all of a sudden, it makes me wish I can take the edge off and reassure him.

I take a step toward him and touch his forearm. “Hey. Sorry. I forgot you’re new to the wild side. I’ll back off if you want.”

He grabs my hand and moves toward me, closing the gap between us. “What if I don’t want you to back off?”

I look up at him, aware for the first time how dark his blue eyes are. “You sure?”

He nods, but doesn’t say anything, and I wonder if he wants me to take the lead or give him the green light.

  “Let’s go.”

We step into my apartment and I drop the keys on the table inside the door. Logan places his bag on the floor and then stands with his hands in his pockets like a little kid, watching me.

I press my back against the wall, holding his gaze. “You like your steak med—”

Logan steps toward me, stopping when we are only inches apart. “I’ve been thinking about doing this all day,” he whispers. He smells of shampoo and aftershave, and his hair is still wet from his shower.

“Doing what, exactly?” I ask, my voice is breathy and my heart pounds in my chest.

He bends and draws my mouth to his, kissing me gently and then pulling away. “This.” He looks into my eyes as if making sure it’s all right to continue. “And this.” His lips are on mine again, the tip of his tongue teasing mine. He places one hand on my hip and the other on my cheek, pulling me to him. “And this.” His mouth moves down my neck, kissing me softly and sending a ripple of heat down my spine and into my core.

“Logan,” I whisper, letting the heady feeling take me over.

“Is this all right?” he asks, pausing to make sure. I can see his pulse pounding in his neck, his racing heart going as fast as mine.

I nod and smile. “Please continue.”

Our mouths meet again, and his tongue plunges into me, this time not holding back. Logan’s hands are warm on my back. He holds me to him, our bodies against the wall, his erection pressing into my hip. I turn us around so he’s against the wall and lean into him, grinding against his cock and letting the surge of heat rush between my legs.

He runs a hand down my thigh and pulls my leg up, holding me in place, opening me up for him. I groan as I arch up to press my clit against his hardness, wanting more than anything to be out of these clothes.

I pull away from his kiss, gasping for breath. “Bedroom. Now.” I tip my head in the direction of the hallway.

Logan nods and grabs my other leg, lifting me off the floor. I wrap myself around him as he cups my ass in his large hands and carries me through the apartment to the bedroom and places me on the bed.

I get to my knees and crawl to the foot of the bed so I am in front of him where I can undo his belt and unbutton his jeans as he pulls off his tee shirt. I run my hands over his tattoo and then trace the lines of his pecs, kissing his smooth skin as he undoes my jeans.

We wriggle out of our clothes and ease onto the bed, arms and hands and mouths and breath moving together like we are running out of time. I wrap my fingers around his thick length, enjoying the feel of him in my grip. He’s very big and totally ready. He closes his eyes and groans as I squeeze him gently.

“I want you, Logan,” I whisper. “I want you inside me right now.”

Logan opens his dark eyes and kisses me again before pulling away. “One second.” He moves to the foot of the bed, grabs his jeans off the floor, and fishes out a condom. Even doing this his muscled body is wonderful to behold.

I watch him roll the condom on, his cock tall and rigid as he rests on his knees. When he’s done I pull him to me and spread my legs, inviting him inside.

He leans on one arm, his eyes on mine as he presses against my opening. I rock gently against him, feeling the slick wetness of my throbbing pussy glide over the head of his cock. He pushes into me, his hips curling toward me, easing inside, stretching me open as he slowly takes me. The feel of him inside me is so good, so fucking hot.

I arch my back, chasing him as he thrusts, wanting nothing more than all of him, every inch of him back inside me where he belongs. He reaches around and holds me by the small of my back, pulling me up to him and angling my hips up toward him. The change in position makes his shaft rub along my clit as he moves, which turns my entire body into a thrumming mass.

I gasp and grab onto his shoulders.

He growls into my ear. “You like that?”

“Yes!” My voice trembles and I can barely catch my breath. I am so lost to the sensations taking over my body, every inch of my skin tingling with pleasure as Logan takes over, moving inside me, thrusting through me, holding me in his iron grip.

The wave of my orgasm, when it comes, is like nothing I have ever known. It starts at the base of my spine like a spring, coiling and coiling so tight it feels like I might break. My whole body feels like it contracts into a ball of vibrating energy, whirling and surging until it lets go, exploding in a burst of absolute release. Logan thrusts once more, urgently inside me, his own release coming into my own.

Later in the small hours, Logan’s phone chimes with a text message. He glances at the screen and sighs. “I should go. My coach is in town. I’m supposed to be in training as of today.” He eases out of the sheets and pulls his jeans off the floor.

I don’t want him to leave and the thought surprises me. “You have a fight coming up?”

He nods. “Yeah. It’s not for a fe
w months, but my coach is pretty strict on sleeping and diet and training. It’s the Gladiator. My roommate and I are both competing.”

I recognize the name of one of the largest tournaments in the country. It’s a huge event, and it’s popular because you don’t have to be ranked in order to compete. If you pass the initial trials meant to weed out the guys who really aren’t ready, you get one of the spots. “Gladiator, wow. That’s a big one.”

He pulls on his tee shirt and slips his phone into his pocket, and just like that the shy guy is back. “I uh… I hope I can see you again? Like this, I mean. I guess I’ll see you again… In the gym, but I… it doesn’t have to be weird or anything… This was… Dani, you are…”

My god, he’s so awkward it would be painful if he weren't so fucking hot. I go to him and stop his rambling with a kiss. “It’s all right, Logan. I’ll see you later.””

  CHAPTER FIVE

  Dani

  * * *

When I arrive at the gym the following morning, Logan is already there. I open the door to the familiar sound of gloves smacking into a heavy bag, the hiss of rapidly blown out breaths, and the whir of the giant fans spinning overhead.

Logan turns as the bell on the door rings and watches me enter. I smile and nod at him and settle my stuff behind the counter as I get everything ready to open.

“Good morning, Dani.” Logan appears at the desk in his sparring equipment, his headgear pressing against his cheeks, his dark hair sticking up through the straps in the back.

I lean on the counter and smile at him. “Good morning, Logan.”

“I had a really nice time last night,” he says.

  “Me too.”

“Oorah!” A voice bellows from the back of the gym. “All right, marine! No hiding! It’s time for the reckoning!”

I look over my shoulder at the guy coming out from the locker room. He’s in headgear and gloves, and he climbs into the ring with his back to me, his technical shirt clinging to his ripped muscles. I have always had a weakness for well-built men. Maybe it’s all the time I spent in this gym growing up, or maybe it’s the reason I was drawn to spend time here in the first place. But there’s something about a man who works that hard to stay in shape that simply turns me on.

Logan rolls his eyes. “My roommate, Chase. Time to go to work.”

  “Have fun.”

I can’t help but watch them.

The new guy—Chase—raises his glove to hit a pretend bell. “Ding ding. Batter up.”

Logan bounces in from his corner and the two men begin. It’s clear they’ve trained together a lot by the way they move. They are about the same height, and weight, but Chase is lighter on his feet than Logan is, and he is the one controlling the pace, circling around Logan who doesn’t have to move so much as pivot to keep his friend in his sights.

Chase lands a right hook, throwing Logan’s head back. But Logan returns and peppers Chase with a bunch of body blows. Round and round they go, with no care for time or keeping score.

After about fifteen minutes, they break for water and to catch their breath. When they are back at it, Chase has taken off his shirt and when he bounces around the ring enough for me to get a good look at him, I see a familiar tattoo. It’s a black dragon that starts low on his waist and curls up his ribs until it settles over the top of his shoulder.

At first my brain doesn’t register what I am seeing. But it only takes a moment before reality snaps my mind back into place and the anger rises. I head to the ring, not even thinking about what I am doing.

Logan and Chase are on the mat, their bodies wrapped around each other like pretzels. Logan has Chase in a shoulder lock using his legs. Chase’s arm is between Logan’s legs while Chase’s face is pressed into the mat as the two of them struggle. Logan is in the superior position, holding Chase in the lock. He’s got much better leverage and is clearly in the dominant position. By the time I get to the ropes, Chase taps out. Logan helps Chase to his feet and they are about to start again.

“What the fuck is going on?” I fight the tremble in my voice as the two men turn and gape at me.

Logan pulls out his mouth guard. “Hey, Dani. What’s up?” Logan’s face is completely blank and innocent. He looks at me, totally confused by the tone of my voice.

Chase, on the other hand, looks stunned. He blinks and stares at me, looking like he’s been slapped.

I look at the two of them, trying to piece it together. “Is this a fucking game?”

“What’s wrong?” Logan pulls off his headgear and just stands there.

Chase takes out his mouth guard and looks at Logan and then at me. “Oh fuck. Logan. Fuck.”

I am surprised at how angry I am. “One of you better explain what you’re doing before I step into the ring and clock you both.”

“I don’t understand, Dani. What’s going on?” Logan steps toward me.

I shake my head and step back. “You know what? Let me guess…” I point at Chase. “You hook up with me at the club and come back to my hotel room for a fuck and then you tell your best friend all about it. Then Logan here decides that I’m easy pickings and he wants some too? Is that how this works?”

Logan’s face goes pale, his eyes wide as he turns to Chase. “Wait. This is the woman you met the other night?”

Chase nods, his eyes still on me. “I had no idea. I didn’t know who you were. Who you are. I have been kicking myself for letting you go without getting your number. I haven’t stopped thinking about you.”

“Save it.” I give him the hand to make him stop talking. I have no idea what to do with all of this. All I know is I feel like I have been pushed onto my back foot; I’m on unsteady ground with no leverage. I jump down off the side of the ring and storm into the locker room.

  CHAPTER SIX

  Logan

I have no idea what I am supposed to do, but I can’t leave her alone after she walked off like that. The look on her face… it was the look of someone betrayed, and as fucked up as this whole thing is, that isn’t at all what happened.

  Not even close.

In the locker room, she’s pacing along the back wall.

“Dani?” I head straight for her, not sure what to say, but knowing I have no choice but to face this.

She flashes an angry glare at me, but I can tell she’s really hurt. “Is everything a fucking game?”

I pull off my gloves and drop them on the bench. “I didn’t know you knew him. That you were the one from the other night. I swear it.”

She laughs bitterly. “Yeah. What the hell are the odds of that, Logan? Seriously.”

“Pretty fucking slim,” he says. “But you need to understand that Chase came home that night and has been in a daze since he met you. He hasn’t stopped thinking of ways to find you. Said he made a mistake letting you go.”

She looks up at me as if she really wants to trust what I am saying.

“And, you know what’s funny? Well, not funny… ironic, maybe? Chase told me about you, and that’s what made me push harder with you than I would ever have done before. I never do that… with women. I usually take things so slow that they pass me by.”

“So I was right. He told you about this easy chick he met at the club and you figured you were going to get in on that too?”

“What? No. Dani. I meant that hearing him talk about you gave me the push to not be shy when I met you. I don’t know how to prove to you that he didn’t know it was you. I had no idea you were the one he met. We had no idea we had been with the same girl. That you were the one he was talking about. He really had no idea that you were Danny Junior.”

Chase steps into the locker room, his gear off and his shirt on. “He’s telling the truth. I swear it. I know we got together without knowing each other, but that doesn’t make me an asshole. I would never play a game like that with anyone.”

Chase rubs his face. “My name is Chase Hughes. I’ve been coming to this gym for years. I know your dad, and I know this gu
y.” He points at me. “Until Logan told me about you this morning, I thought Danny Junior was a dude. I have been hoping to run into you since leaving you the other night. I was thinking of trying you at the hotel but… You said you were in town for a couple of months so I figured I’d let fate decide if there was something a little more between us. I swear on my life I had no idea that you were Danny Morgan’s daughter.”

  CHAPTER SEVEN

  Dani

  * * *

The two of them look absolutely miserable. They sit side-by-side on the bench, waiting for me to say something. Logan stares at the floor, his shoulders slumped. He seems defeated and low, maybe even a little embarrassed. Chase, on the other hand, won’t stop staring at me with an almost comical look of joy on his face.

After fifteen more minutes of the two of them pleading and explaining, it’s clear to me that they are telling the truth. I try to get my head around the odds that I would be back in town for three days and manage to hook up with a pair of roommates, both of whom are regulars at my dad’s gym.

I glare at Chase, trying to decipher the look he’s been throwing at me. “What?”

He shakes his head. “I can’t believe I found you. I mean, I figured there was a chance I would run into you at some point over the summer. I went back to the club last night and just watched the door looking for you. I don’t regret hooking up with you, but I regret letting you go. I’m not going to pretend you were my first one-night-stand. But I felt like maybe there was a little something more happening that night. Between us.”
